After graduating from Sturt School for Wood in 2004, Warwick established Grainwoodworks in Sydney. He maintains a design studio in Sydney and a workshop on the South Coast of NSW. All species of timbers are used but he has a preference for Australian hardwoods, and where available, recycled and reclaimed timbers.
Warwick says “Furniture should be designed for its intended purpose. There is a place for mass produced furniture but studio furniture is designed and made for the client who is looking for that special piece of furniture which meets their requirements whether it be a specific design, particular dimensions to suit their home or office or timber species which are not available in commercial furniture. The most important role of a designer / maker is creating a design to suit the purpose and style requirements of the client. The design will determine the selection of timber and any other materials in consultation with the client.
